This INTERACTIVE Living and Nonliving Things PowerPoint Game Show has 1st and 2nd graders review and classify Living and Nonliving Things. The categories for questions include Characteristics, Living or Nonliving? Which One Doesn’t Belong? Once Living? and Mixed Bag. Featuring sound effects, a self-scoring scoreboard and 25 questions plus an optional challenge question, this Living and Nonliving Things game show is perfect for test prep and review. It can also be used at the beginning of a study of Living and Nonliving Things to assess what students already know. The questions begin at the lowest level and advance to higher level questions. I like to play this Living and Nonliving Things game with students in teams and have kiddos use whiteboards to show their answers, but it also works well for a math center in your classroom with only 2-4 students. This game is also good for small groups of students to play at a center.

Be sure to check out the PREVIEW to see a sampling of the questions in this game!

Want to use this game for another subject? No problem! I have included a completely editable version in which you can change all the categories, questions, and answers! You can use this PowerPoint game show to review any subject!

This Living and Nonliving Things game show plays on PowerPoint versions 2007 or later AND Macintosh PowerPoint 2013! This game uses Macros. You will have to enable Macros on your PowerPoint program in order for the automatic scoring to work. I have included instructions on how to enable Macros and how to play the game in a PDF file included in the download. Be sure to read them, and if you are having any difficulty, just email me and I will help you out!

On the Game Board page, you click on the question to go to it and the number will disappear so you know you’ve already answered that question. On the answer page, you click on each team that has answered the question correctly, and points awarded are displayed along with a sound effect. Next, you will go to the scoreboard where scores are calculated automatically – no need to type them in! There are also buttons to increase or decrease scores in 10 pt. increments which is great for the optional challenge round.
