Description

Played like Jeopardy, this Figurative Language PowerPoint Game Show is the perfect way to practice, review, and assess idioms, similes and metaphors, personification, and hyperbole with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and advanced 2nd graders. Featuring adorable sound effects, a self-scoring scoreboard and 25 questions plus an optional challenge question, this game show is great to use for practice, test prep and review. Categories of questions are Name It!, Identify It!, What Does It Mean?, Complete the Saying, and Which One Doesn’t Belong?. I like to play this game with students in groups and have kiddos use whiteboards to show their answers, but it also works well for a center in your classroom with only 2-4 students.

Be sure to ✅ check out the PREVIEW to see a sampling of the questions in this game!

Want to use this game show for another subject? No problem! I have included a completely editable version in which you can change all the categories, questions, and answers! You can use this PowerPoint game show to review ANY SUBJECT!

This Jeopardy style game show plays on PowerPoint versions 2007 or later AND Macintosh PowerPoint 2013 and later! This game uses Macros. You will have to enable Macros on your PowerPoint program in order for the automatic scoring to work. I have included instructions on how to enable Macros and how to play the game in a PDF file included in the download. Be sure to read them, and if you are having any difficulty, just email me and I will help you out!

HOW TO PLAY:
On the Game Board page, you click on the question to go to it and the number will disappear so you know you’ve already answered that question. On the answer page, you click on each team that has answered the question correctly, and points awarded are displayed along with a sound effect. Next, you will go to the scoreboard where scores are calculated automatically – no need to type them in! There are also buttons to increase or decrease scores in 10 pt. increments which is great for the optional challenge round.
